# Shopify Checkout says "This store can’t accept payments right now." Why?

If your Shopify Checkout says that “This store can’t accept payments right now.” then this means that there is something misconfigured with payment gateways in your shop. It could be that your customers are trying to purchase a subscription item, but your payment gateway wasn't yet set up to accept auto-charging subscriptions.

To resolve this, it will be best to set up at least one of the payment gateways which Shopify allows for auto-charging subscriptions. If this error message still happens even after you add the payment gateway which supports auto-charging subscriptiosn to your shop, then it will be best to contact Shopify Support about this issue so they can check if there are any restrictions set on your Shopify account.
