We have changed the currency in our store. How do we also change it on all existing subscriptions?
If you recently changed your store currency and already have existing subscriptions with the previous currency (e.g. like when Bulgaria adopter EUR and discarded their previous currency), then follow this quide on how to update the currency on your existing subscriptions.
Currently, Shopify doesn't yet allow us to change the currency on the subscription in Shopify. So for now, the best and quickest workaround for this will be that you simply recreate your subscriptions in your new currency (e.g. EUR) and cancel the old ones.
There are 3 ways to recreate subscriptions in our app:
- manually in Seal Subscriptions > Subscriptions > Add subscription manually (select auto-charging option),
- through our API: https://www.sealsubscriptions.com/articles/merchant-api-documentation#create-subscription
- by uploading the CSV import file into Seal Subscriptions > Subscriptions > Bulk import subscriptions (see screenshot).
If you have a lot of subscriptions, then the last option will likely be the prefered one. To do that, you first have to export your subscriptions in Seal Subscriptions > Subscriptions > Export Data, then adjust the currency in your subscriptions and upload them.
I recommend that you first upload and import one or two subscriptions, wait for them to renew to make sure the charge goes through in Shopify. And then, if everything works correctly, import the rest of the subscriptions.
But an important thing to know here is that importing the subscriptions will create new subscriptions. It won't update your existing ones.
So you will then have to cancel the previous subscriptions.
